*~PRIMITIVE FOLKART "BOO" Black Cat/Pumpkin PENNY RUG CANDLEMAT~*

copyright 2008

Hello. Just finished this prim/folkart, oval shaped penny rug. I'm having a hard time parting with this one. The penny rug measures approximately 11 inches in diameter.

It is my newest design and pattern for Fall 2008. All pieces were handcut and stitched onto the mat by me in my smoke-free home.

For this mat, I used a felted piece of tea dyed wool felt for the background of the mat. I really like the prim bumpy texture. There is alot of detail in this mat. I used two shades of pumpkin colored wool felt for the pumpkins. Black wool felt to make the cats and a mottled green to make the pumpkin stems. I blanket stitched each piece on using brown, green, or black quilting thread. Each pumpkin holding a black cat, is made up of three sections. The other three pumpkins each have a black wool felt letter stitched on to spell: "B-O-O". I also added green stitching to represent the tendrils on the pumpkin tops. On one of the Black Cats tail I hand stitched a spider dangling from his web. I attached the mat to a plum colored piece of wool felt to accent the top piece. I then backed the entire piece with black wool felt.

PLEASE SEE PICTURE FOR MORE DETAIL. The colors are not as bright as the picture shows, they are more MUTED/PRIM looking. The top piece has been tea dyed.

Primitve Raggedy Ann doll

Sweet little Annie is "Just a Raggedy Ann in a Barbie Doll World"
Little Annie is 13" tall with painted, stitched and penciled sealed features.
She is made from premium coffee stained muslin, and has wool hair.

Annies feet are painted as well as her sock stripes and I have dressed her in a cute Raggedy Ann and Andy red/white print from Daisy Kingdom. Her bodice is red polka dots and she has sweet pantaloons
Annie has 2 star buttons attached to her bodice as well.

Her grungy tag reads"Im Just a Raggedy Ann in a Barbie Doll World". I have also stained her dress and bodice. Many years ago I used to do this as a stitchery but never FELT like it until I was over the hill so to speak.....
Annie was made from a pattern by Bowls-n-Annies.

Primitive Full Moon Door Greeter

Thanks for dropping by today. It’s a full moon and the bats are out! I just love how this door greeter turned out. It is my own design and a one-of-a-kind. It is made from the white part of an old cutter quilt.

The back is unbleached muslin. I stained it with a fragrant prim coffee and spice mix and baked it to reveal a very nice aged quality. I then rubbed the backside with fabric stiffener. It turned out so prim and the staining gives the moon that “shadowy” effect. Flying in front of the moon are two black bats, made from unbleached muslin. They have been slightly stuffed with polyfil and their wings stitched to give them a quilted effect. They were then stained, baked, stain painted black and baked once again.

Primitive Fall Autumn Leaves Bowl Fillers Ornies

Thanks for dropping by today. You won’t want to rake or burn these leaves! These autumn leaves are made from a cutter quilt in beautiful fall colors. The backsides are unbleached muslin.

There are three oak leaves and two maple leaves. They have been slightly stuffed with fiberfill and I have hand stitched the veins on them. They have been stained with a fragrant prim mix and baked. Three of the leaves have rusty bells pinned on with rusty safety pins.

The oak leaves measure 5-3/4 inches tall by 4 inches wide and the maple leaves measure 4-3/4 inches tall by 5 inches wide. You will receive the five leaves seen here. Also included is a prim tag that reads “Autumn Leaves”. These would look great scattered among your fall decor!

Primitive Raggedy Witch Doll Halloween

It's so good to be back after Vacation and Company. I've been itching to make something. I just completed this
adorabel Raggedy Witch doll, using a pattern by Homespun Hugs and Calico stitches. I always add my own touches
to make my dolls unique. She is a large 26" gal, not including her hat. Her body is made from stained mulslin, with
painted stripe legs. I used black homespun for the dress. The face is handpainted and sewn. The tinniest of buttons are sewn
on for eyes.

I used Sheeps wool for her hair. Around her neck is a great piece of antique lace that I stained. It is
attached with an wonderfull rhinestone antique button. Even witches like pretty things!

I made the wood bobbin broom, and added a prim tag to complete my Propper Witch. There is no glue in the doll, just stitches. All my creations are made
by me in a smoke free home. Thanks so much for looking.

Primitive Folk Art Americana Big Doll Flag

This gal is my most recent creation... I would like to thank Heidi at Crabby Gabby for the wonderful pattern!
She is very large display size doll-she stands just about 31 inches tall. ( 30 3/4 to be exact...)

She is a sturdy gal and is freestanding...she is mounted onto an old antique beehive bobbin ( which appears to
have seen its years of use.. LOL)

that is permanently secured with screws (from the bottom) to a destressed wood
star base. She wears a stained cotton "bloomer" under her skirt which reads the pledge of allegiance...
She is sewm from stained muslin and has a full round-like-a-ball head. Her facial features are all done by hand.

Her nose and brows are needle sculpted to add a bit of dimension and her mouth is stitched with heavy red cotton thread...
Her green eyes are drawn and detailed with artists pencils....
I've also added some shading around her nose and brows and blushed her cheeks for a bit of color....
All of her clothing is made from painted, sanded and aged plain cotton ticking. Her blouse is color washed white
with a gathered bodice and sleeves. Her corset is navy colorwashed with set eyelets and laced up the front with aged
cording. The shoulder straps are red colorwashed ticking.....
Her skirt is painted with alternating red, white and blue stripes. It is a bit stiff from the paint, but I did sand the heck out
of it to help soften it some....
She has a full head of sheeps wool for her hair, dark brown with chocolate tips, which is needlefelted in place...
her bonnet is sewn into place on top.
She has individually stitched fingers on both hands. Her right hand is stiffened so she appears to grasp the flagpole.

As you can see in the in the close-ups, she has some stain birthmarks there....the starch didn't agree with the stain on
that hand apparently. Its mostly visible from the back....When she's holding the pole, you don't see it as much....
Now for Olde Glory...the wood flagpole is 36 inches long by itself. The fabric piece measures 10 1/2 inches x 16 inches.
It is from painted and sanded plain ticking in a Betsy Ross style.

It has two small pockets sewn into the top and bottom
which has wire inside. The wire can be bent into any shape to make the flag appear to be waving, of if you prefer, it can lay
flat. The wire is wrapped through and around the pole to secure it and I did some prim stitchin' down the side to give
it a nice finsh... I have placed a reserve to protect all my time and work invested into her...if she does not sell, she will have
a nice home with me. :o)
She will come to you signed and dated by me......
